Elle est rendue particuli\u00e8rement c\u00e9l\u00e8bre lors de la guerre de Crim\u00e9e o\u00f9 elle s&rsquo;est rendue avec d&rsquo;autres infirmi\u00e8res \u00e0 l&rsquo;h\u00f4pital de Scutari au point de devenir un v\u00e9ritable symbole. Ses travaux sur l&rsquo;organisation des soins et l&rsquo;hygi\u00e8ne ont permit une nette am\u00e9lioration des h\u00f4pitaux.
